Virat Kohli breaks Hashim Amla's biggest record today

Indian cricket has always been known as a batting-dominated team. With a plethora of options with the willow and a good squad depth in the middle-order, the Men in Blue always fancied chasing a game instead of setting the score. The batting line-up comprising of the top middle and the tail have their separate designated roles to play in the innings. However, we all agree, that it keeping the scoreboard ticking.

This duty, in recent time, has been best shouldered by Indian skipper Virat Kohli. A run-machine, who is capable of decimating any bowling lineup on his day. Known for his aggressive captaincy, he has earned praises from several pundits and been compared to many greats.

The dynamic right-hander from Delhi has taken great strides ever since his foray and has shattered the record books alike. Earlier, in September, Virat Kohli celebrated his milestone 50th T20 international game by reaching 15,000 international runs in just 304 matches and becoming the fastest to do so as India played Sri Lanka in the lone T20 international at Colombo on Wednesday. Kohli became the 33rd player to reach 15,000 runs and the only one with an average of above 50.

And now he’s done an encore. Virat Kohli entered the record books yet again by becoming the fastest to score 16,000 runs. Looks like there’s no stopping this man!

Among the top 10 players fastest to reach the milestone, Virat Kohli topped the list. Hashim Amla takes the second spot with 363 innings. Lara and Sachin Tendulkar settle for third and fourth positions on the table.
